Issue description

When pressing shift with a pattern overlay item, the transperancy of blocks in the creative tab will break, (ex: an oak's trapdoors holes will be black)
The same will happen if you are just holding a pattern overlay item

Steps to reproduce

1. Write something onto a slate
2. Put it into your hotbar while NOT holding it
3. Search glass in the creative inventory
4. Spam Shift
