Error while trying to install the Python extension

I cant even install the Python Extension for Visual studios because it keeps saying:

ERROR Parameter "url" must be a string, not undefined

I have installed the latest version of python. Not really sure what to do has anybody else had this problem and solved it?

I assume you mean you are installing the Python extension for VS Code, not Visual Studio.

Can you include either the complete traceback where you are getting that error and/or a screenshot? Unfortunately what you have is not enough to go on.

Thanks for the reply. Yes youre right, VS Code. All i do is click "install" then it tries to install the extension for a few mins before giving up and giving me the red error message at the top.

Can you "Toggle Developer Tools" and see what shows up there? This is very likely a VS Code bug, but I want to double-check before I forward this on to the VS Code team.

Can you copy all the errors and paste them here? I can't see the whole traceback to know if it's in our code or in VS Code itself. But this exactly what I'm after.

OK, so this is coming from the extension host, which is in VS Code. I will open an issue on the VS Code repo on your behalf.

The issue on VS Code is microsoft/vscode#127022 and there is an ask for more details.
