BUG: when gui remote api is down search doesnt work#737

recreation steps:

  1. touch ~/.tea/tea.xyz/gui/dev
  2. take down app.dev.tea.xyz/v1 lambda
  3. turn on gui and search

weird, because it should not be connected at all. The gui should work offline
